ICD: J-1 Intern

  1. Non-U.S. citizen
  2. Minimum 18 years old
  3. Proficient in written and spoken English
  4. Not restricted from traveling to the U.S.
  5. Academic background:
    – Currently enrolled full-time and actively pursuing a degree or professional certificate in the desired training field from a foreign ministry-recognized post-secondary academic institution, OR
    – Graduated from such an institution no more than 12 months prior to the start of the training program
  6. Should be able to work a minimum of 3 weeks up to a maximum of 12 months.
  7. Internship must be in your field of study.

Multiple J-1 internships can be completed if all requirements continue to be met and their collective duration does not exceed 12 months, OR 90 days have elapsed between programs.

ICD: J-1 Trainee

  1. Non-U.S. citizen
  2. Minimum 18 years old
  3. Proficient in written and spoken English
  4. Not restricted from traveling to the U.S.
  5. Academic background:
    – A degree or professional certificate from a foreign, government-recognized post-secondary academic institution* and at least one year of related full-time work experience outside the United States, OR
    – Five years of work experience outside the United States in the desired training field
  6. Training must be in your field of expertise
  7. Should be able to work a minimum of 3 weeks up to a maximum of 18 months.

Additional training programs can be completed if all requirements are met and at least two years of residency outside the United States follow the previous J-1 program.

All Applicants

  • Applicants are required to show recent experience relevant to the field in which they are seeking internship or training opportunities.
  • Applicants must have completed related work or education within six months before the program’s start date.
  • Applicants must plan to enter the United States exclusively for internship or training purposes, without the intention of abandoning their non-immigrant status.
  • Applicants should not aim to change their visa status while in the United States.
  • Applicants must demonstrate the ability to effectively operate in an English-speaking environment, both during and outside of work. This can be verified through documentation from an educational institution, an English proficiency test, or an interview with Stanley Prep staff.
  • Applicants who secured their internship through recruitment agencies or other third-party organizations may be ineligible for the program.
